High-End Car Thieves Swipe Maserati, BMW from Summit Parking Lot

Police said two vehicles were stolen from the valet parking lot of a Morris Avenue restaurant on May 10.

Some thieves in the Summit area apparently have discriminating taste.

Several patrons at a Morris Avenue restaurant enjoyed a leisurely dinner recently, only to pay their bill and discover their luxury cars - a 2007 black Maserati and a silver 2012 BMW - were stolen from the parking lot.

Summit police reported that the twin vehicle theft happened at approximately 11:30 pm on Friday, May 10.

The name of the restaurant was not disclosed, but it was an establishment that provides valet parking. The police report said that the keys to vehicles were missing from the valet key safe, so the thieves apparently didn't hotwire the vehicles, but drove off in style.

Police are still searching for the car thieves. Anyone with any information is urged to call the Summit Police Department at 908-273-0051.
