Update: Berkeley Heights Woman, 75, Struck By Vehicle on Morris Avenue

The woman sustained a minor injury and was transported to a local hospital.

Update: 11 p.m.

A 75-year-old woman from Berkeley Heights was struck by a motor vehicle near Marco Polo Restaurant on Morris Avenue in Summit this evening, said Robert Weck, Summit Police Chief.

Weck said she sustained an injury to her finger and there were no other reported injuries.

The woman was transported to a local hospital, Weck said, and the cause of this accident is under investigation by Summit Police Traffic Personnel.

An elderly woman was struck by a truck near 515 Morris Ave. just after 6:30 p.m. this evening, according to unconfirmed reports.

A Summit Police Department Dispatcher did confirm that there was an accident on Morris Avenue, but could not provide additional information.

Police are shutting down Morris Avenue between Lafayette Avenue and Aubrey Street, according to unconfirmed reports. Also, an accident investigation team was requested and the status of the patient is unknown at this time.
