Witness Blocks Driver From Fleeing Accident, Police Say

Summit resident struck two parked cars but wasn't able to get away after a witness followed and blocked him, police said.

A Summit man hit two parked vehicles on Monday and was unable to get away after a witness, whose vehicle was one of the two hit, blocked the man from fleeing, police said.

Jose Sanchez, 27, was traveling north on Summit Avenue in an SUV when he hit both vehicles, Summit Police Capt. Steve Zagorski said. A contractor working in that area saw Sanchez was leaving the scene and decided to get in his own vehicle and follow him, Zagorski said. The contractor also called Summit Police.

“The suspect caught a red light on Summit Avenue,” Zagorski told Patch. “The contractor pulled in front of [Sanchez’s] car so he couldn’t move. The guy tried to go around the contractor’s car and struck the contractor’s car again. The police got there at about that time.”

No one was injured during this incident.
