Democratic Mayoral Candidate Greets Commuters

Democratic Candidate for Mayor Eileen Forman Ludden greeted commuters at Summit Train Station this morning, handing out flyers about her candidacy for Mayor.

With the election just weeks away, Ludden said its critical that she get information about her candidacy in residents's hands.

“We need more people to be aware that there is an election going on in November, " Ludden said. "Usually people aren’t aware of an election until the lawn signs start popping up, so we need to educate them early. It’s an important local election."

Indeed. Ludden, the democratic contender, is running against Republican candidate Ellen Dickson and Independent candidte for mayor, Mike Vernotico.

At least one commuter said the flyer was helpful in that he had not paid much attention to the election yet.

“I haven’t had much time,” said Summit resident Daniel Khalaf, 22."He added: "I am aware that Mike Vernotico is running as an independent. It’s always great when there are more than just two parties running." 

While not everyone will hold the same opinion, Ludden said that she always ready to campaign on substance.

"You know you have to tell people what the real issues are," Ludden said, "not the pretend issues that stir up controversey."
