Lizza is the Best Choice for Summit Council, Resident Says

Deb McCann says 'she's excited about the diverse perspective and new ideas that Sandra would bring to Council.'

The following is a letter to the editor:

I have been a Summit resident for 10 years, currently in the Franklin School district, Ward II. Given my extensive Summit community involvement, my frequent attendance of Summit Council and Board of Education meetings and my 20 years of finance experience, I can strongly say that Sandra Lizza is the best choice for Summit Council, Ward II.

First and foremost, Sandra has 24 years of finance experience, specifically with budgeting, planning and process management. Our current Council has enhanced Summit's financial discipline and budgeting process, resulting in reduced year-over-year tax increases. Sandra has the ability to take this process to the next level by introducing tools she utilized throughout her career such as scenario analysis and long-range planning. This will be critical as we face challenges such as the Merck announcement, where we need to consider both short-term and long-term cost scenarios based on potentially lower tax revenues.

The second reason Sandra is the right choice for Council is that she is kind and respectful. In order to keep Summit great, residents should expect its representatives to question and challenge each other – which Sandra will not hesitate to do. But this is only effective if it’s done respectfully, which Sandra has successfully demonstrated throughout her leadership roles both in the community and in business.

Finally, I am excited about the diverse perspective and new ideas that Sandra would bring to Council. She and her family have lived in Summit for 18 years, and she has been involved in a wide range of activities…from The Historic Preservation Commission to Summit Supports Our Troops to religious school educator to ESL tutor. These experiences will allow her to represent various members of our community. Plus she will bring a woman’s perspective to the Council which we are currently missing.

Please join me in voting for Sandra Lizza on November 5th. For more information, visit her website: www.lizzaforcouncil.com.
