New Union County Democratic Chairman Backs Buono for Governor
Assemblyman Jerry Green announced his support for the gubernatorial hopeful.
Union County Democratic Committee's newly-elected chairman Assemblyman Jerry Green (D-22) has issued his support for state Sen. Barbara Buono in the upcoming gubernatorial election.
According to the Star Ledger, Green's announcement came following his election to the chairman's seat Tuesday, where he succeeded former chair Charlotte DeFilippo, who retired after 18 years as the head of the organization.
Despite Buono's party affiliation, she has failed to garner support for her run from other high-profile Democratic leaders. Essex County Executive Joseph DiVincenzo and state Sen. Brian Stack (D-33) have given their support to Republican Gov. Chris Christie, the Ledger reported.
