Guadagno cheers on Republican county ticket at event attended by politicos from around county.

County Republicans were out in force Wednesday night to rally with Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno in the run up to Tuesday's election.

Guadagno headlined a rally for U.S. Rep. Leonard Lance (R-Hunterdon County) and county wide Republican hopefuls in Roselle Park. Lance is seeking a second term against Democratic challenger Ed Potosnak.

In the county constitutional officer races, Republican county tax board president Peter Lijoi of Summit is challenging Democratic Sheriff Ralph Froelich of Union Township; Republican attorney Art Zapolski of Linden is challenging Democratic County Clerk Joanne Rajoppi of Union Township. Republicans Summit Councilwoman Ellen Dickson, former New Providence planning board member Brian Flanagan and former Rahway Councilwoman Elyse Medved are challenging Democrats Freeholder Chairman Dan Sullivan of Elizabeth, Freeholder Bette Jane Kowalski of Cranford and Plainfield Councilwoman Linda Carter for three seats on the county freeholder board.
