Authorities believe a stray bullet killed a New Brunswick man in his home Friday afternoon. According to the Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office, Richard Chang, 40, was pronounced dead at his home at 3:40 p.m.

Teacher and Coach Had Sexual Relations With Student, Prosecutor Says

Wood-Ridge High School girls' softball coach Jillian Clementi, also a teacher at Immaculate Heart Academy in Washington Township, engaged in improper sexual relations with a male student from Wood-Ridge High School, authorities charged Wednesday.

Nutley police charged Patricia Krentcil, 44, with child endangerment after allegedly letting her 5-year-old daughter enter a tanning booth with her. Krentcils' daughter told her school nurse she got a sunburn from tanning with her mother, prompting the school to call child services.

U.S. Rep. Rush Holt (NJ-12) Thursday joined undergraduates and the presidents of several New Jersey colleges at the College of New Jersey in Ewing to ask Congress to prevent student loan interest rates from doubling on July 1. Hold said if Congress fails to act, interest rates for more than 7 million students who receive federal student loans will increase from 3.4 percent to 6.8 percent on July 1.
