Summit Dems to Hold Voter Registration Drive Sunday at Farmer's Market
From 9a.m. until noon, members of the Summit Democrats will be helping with voter registration
The Summit Democrats are getting ready for the Democratic National Convention next week with a voter drive this weekend at the starting at 9 a.m. on Sunday morning.

For Union County voters, Tuesday, Oct. 16 is the final day to register for the November election.

Convention Watch Party at the Elks Lodge
As I type this, the Republican convention is winding down, so clearly that means it is our turn! The Summit Democrats will host a watch party at the Elks Lodge, 40 Maple Street in Summit, on Thursday September 6 starting at 8pm. Light refreshments will be provided and there will be a cash bar. Please come out and join us while we watch the final speeches, including President Obama's acceptance speech.

Picnic Plans Firming Up
The Summit Democrats will host a picnic at Briant Park on Sunday, September 23 from 3 to 5pm. This is a change from the tentative date we were originally planning. We wanted to spread our events out over the month and it's closer to when we would have had our happy hour. The picnic will be a potluck event as in prior years. We will provide more details as it gets closer. Please make plans now to bring your friends and enjoy a fall day with your fellow Summit Democrats!
Exciting Convention News
One of Summit's own, Neena Bitritto-Garg, is a pledged delegate for Obama and will be attending the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte as a voting member of the NJ delegation! Neena is the daughter of Committee Members Sunil Garg and Michel Bitritto. Congratulations, Neena!
Obama Campaign News
We will be holding a phone banking evening on Wednesday, October 17. More details to come. If you would like to host another phone bank event, contact Terri. Lawn signs have been ordered and should be here in about a week. As we did in 2008, we will be asking for a donation when you pick up your sign(s) since we had to order and pay for them on our own. You can download the Obama mobile app here. You will be able to keep up with the latest information for the campaign and the best ways to get involved.
