Summit Implementing Improved City-Wide Emergency Alert System

Submitted by the City of Summit

The City of Summit has announced that it has retained a new provider and has implemented a new official City-wide emergency alert system.  The impetus for the change is to provide more efficient, reliable and cost-effective means to communicate with residents, City staff, businesses and other groups during emergencies and alert the community through a combination of voice, text, fax and email.  The new provider, SwiftReach, is part of a national network that consistently delivers the highest success rate in emergency notification.

All members of the community that are interested in continuing to receive emergency alerts and other important information from the City of Summit should sign-up at http://cityofsummit.org by clicking on the SwiftReach logo at the bottom of the homepage even if previously enrolled in the CodeRED alert system.   Members of the community without email, may sign-up in person at City Hall at the Police Department Records window.
