Vernotico Wants to Improve Quality of Life in Summit, Resident Says

Henry Bassman says City of Summit would benefit from Vernotico's "thoughtful positions on matters of citywide importance."

I like Mike Vernotico for Common Council. I believe he is a man of integrity with a commitment to serving our community. I first met Mike several years ago when he was coaching junior football. We had a brief conversation and I came away with a good feeling. We later met several times when he was a member of Common Council.

Every time we talked about an issue facing the city, I was impressed with two things. First Mike knew what he was talking about, whether it was sidewalks, turf fields, Sunshine Laws, conflicts of interest, finance, parking, helipads or real estate development. And I found Mike’s positions were reasonable and the right thing to do based on the merits of the circumstances – with no political or social considerations.

As I got to know Mike, I learned he wants to be on Common Council for one reason only – to improve the quality of life in Summit for those who live, work and go to school here. Mike is not running for office to get a ticket punched or to move into fashionable social circles. He has a lifetime of experience and commitment to our city from his high school days as a football player to the present day.

I only regret that I don’t live in Ward 2 so I could vote for Mike. His election will assure that Ward 2 residents will have dedicated representation and the entire city of Summit will benefit from his thoughtful positions on matters of citywide importance.
