More Full-Day, Tuition-Based Kindergarten Information Offered

Lottery applications are due Tuesday, Jan. 21 and should be returned to the Primary Centers.

The Summit Public School District is offering additional information about the recently-approved tuition-based, full-day kindergarten pilot program, which will begin in the 2014-2015 school year.

One full-day class of 20 students each will be held at the Willson and Jefferson Primary Centers and run from 8:15 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. Students will be selected via a lottery system. Lottery applications for full-day kindergarten are available online and at all district schools. The drawing will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2014 at the Board of Education. The public is welcome to attend. Those chosen will be notified on Thursday, Jan. 23, 2014.

Tuition will be $5,500 per student for the year. Reduced tuition will be available for those who qualify for assistance. There is a non-refundable $550 fee due at the time of registration. This fee will be applied to the September 2014 $5,500 tuition, which can be paid in installments. More payment information will be provided at registration and at the Summit School District website

A tour of Wilson Primary Center will take place at 8:45 a.m. Monday, Dec. 9, while a tour of Jefferson Primary will be held at 8:45 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 10. Additional tours will be offered Tuesday, Jan. 7 at Jefferson and Wednesday, Jan. 8 at Wilson. For tour reservations, please call: 908-918-2175 ext. 0 (Wilson Primary) or 908-918-2160 ext. 0 (Jefferson Primary).

The district will no longer offer a third party, on-site, fee-based extended care program. Organizations will continue to provide this service off-site.
