BOE to Host Substitute Teacher Info Sessions This Week

The following announcement is from the Summit Public Schools employment website:

The is a culturally rich, preK-12 suburban school district of 4,000 students, which benefits from outstanding community support. Our students achieve at the highest levels academically, artistically, and athletically.

Our district has had great success hiring full time aides and teachers from our substitute pool.  Thus, if you are a certified teacher who is looking for full time employment and have not been able to procure a position for September, consider a career path to full time employment as a substitute teacher in the Summit Public Schools.  Our district values our substitutes and our expectation is that they will teach while covering for a teacher. 

Eleven percent of Summit’s students participate in the free and reduced lunch program.  Fifteen percent of our students are Hispanic.  Five percent of the students are African American, and a supportive African American Action Association is active in our schools.  More than 30 different languages are spoken by our students’ families.  We encourage and invite certified teachers in all areas who are bilingual to register to attend.  We value diversity in our teaching staff.  We are also looking for aide/substitutes who are ABA trained.

We are limited to 45 candidates per session; therefore, advance registration is required.  Please register to attend one of the following dates:

Wednesday, August 1, 2012 from 9:00 a.m

Thursday, August 2, 2012 from 3:00 p.m

Both sessions will be held at the meeting room, 14 Beekman Terrace, Summit, New Jersey and will last for approximately 1 1/2 hours.  Please call to register at (908) 918-2100, ext. 3208. 

Please plan to arrive 15 minutes early to sign-in.  If you register and then find you cannot attend please give us a call to cancel.  Please park in any open space that you find, do not worry about assigned parking spaces.
