Boys Lax Defeats Cranford To Clinch 4th Consecutive County Championship

Hilltoppers dominate 15-2 and extend win streak to 62.

The Summit boys lacrosse team won their fourth consecutive Union County Championship with a dominating 15-2  performance over Cranford at A.L. Johnson High School in Clark. The Hilltoppers extended their tremendous win streak to 62 games.

IN SHORT
Cranford earned their way into the UCT by beating Westfield but they had to face a No. 1 ranked Summit squad that had beaten them during the regular season 13-1.

The Hilltoppers showed why they are the top seed in the County by beating Cranford again in a terrific display of defense and offense in their complete game victory to take the  Union County Championship, 15-2.

Summit jumped out in front early in the match and continued to pour it on with six goals in the first quarter and five in the second before Cranford managed to put one in the the net in the first half. Cranford  faced a tremendous defensive effort by the Hilltoppers and only managed one more goal in the third quarter.

Every Summit player made a significant contribution in the win and celebrated their championship with players taking turns holding up the UCT trophy on the filed.

Ryan Bringewatt (Summit), two goals; Sonny Round, Terry McKenna, Nick Kitsos, Tommy Celmer and Andrew Miller had one goal each (Summit).

Tommy Fitzgerald and Matt Nunziato scored the only two goals for Cranford.
