Calhoun to Resign from Board of Education

Former board president is relocating to Pittsburgh area.

Superintendent Dr. Nathan Parker announced Thursday night that board member Patricia Calhoun is resigning her position.

Calhoun, who served as board president during the 2008-2009 school year, has served on the board since May 2005.

Calhoun, who has lived in Summit for 16 years, will be relocating to the Pittsburgh area with her husband Jay and her resignation will take effect Oct. 15. The Calhoun's have three boys: Ryan, Sam and Max.

Since Summit's board of education is appointed by Mayor Jordan Glatt, it will be up to him to name Calhoun's replacement.

Glatt said that he will work closely with the board to find a replacement and hopes to have this done within the next 30 days.

Calhoun has volunteered as a rape crisis advocate and community educator at the Union County Rape Crisis Center for many years and also volunteers as Christ Church.
