Congressman Presents American Flag to Oak Knoll 8th Grade

The flag, presented to students on April 10, flew over the United States Capitol.

Rep. Leonard Lance (NJ-7), visited  on April 10 to present a special American flag to the Upper School. 

The flag flew over the United States Capitol in Washington, D.C. in honor of the class of 2016 on March 1. The eighth graders study government and requested the flag be flown as a way to cap off the lesson.

"I hope it will be flown with pride over this great institution for many years to come," Congressman Lance said.

Congressman Lance met with the class for a question and answer session during which the students asked about his political career, his stance on issues such as social security and taxes, and his thoughts on the upcoming presidential election.

The congressman also quizzed the students on their knowledge of the governmental structure and current events.

"You are getting a wonderful education here at Oak Knoll and hopefully you will become leaders in society," he said. "You live in a momentous time in American history."
