The Summit YMCA will run an American Red Cross babysitting course this summer for youth ages 10 and older. This completely revised course is fun and fast-paced with hands-on activities, exciting videos, role-playing and lively discussions. Participants gain the confidence to make smart decisions and stay safe in any babysitting situation.
You’ll learn how to: supervise children and infants, along with effective communication skills with parents; perform basic child-care skills; choose safe and age-appropriate games and toys; handle bedtime and discipline issues; identify safety hazards and prevent injuries; care for common injuries and emergencies.
The Babysitting course runs from July 11 to 16 or July 25 to July 28, from 9:00 am to 12:30 pm each day. Fees are $120 for Y members; $160 for non-members. For more information contact Suzi Pellegrino, 908-273-3330 x 149, suzi.pellegrino@theSAY.org. Registration is currently ongoing either in person at the Summit YMCA, 67 Maple Street, or online at www.theSAY.org.
The Summit Area Y is one of the area’s largest nonprofit organizations, strengthening the community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Y is accessible to all people. Financial assistance is offered to individuals and families who cannot afford membership.
