B.I.G. women's networking group will meet September 10 and September 27 to discuss Social Media

Calling all women realtors, stagers, party planners, jewelry sellers, interior designers, lawyers, accountants, graphic designers, life/career coaches, chefs, photographers, etc:  The fall schedule for the Summit/New Providence chapter of B.I.G. has been announced!

Launched locally in March, the Summit/New Providence chapter has generated huge interest from area women who are stay-at-home moms thinking about re-entering the work force and career options, those who want to start a business, and seasoned business veterans looking for ways to help their business thrive.  There are two monthly meetings in September, both focusing on Social Media.  The September meetings are Monday, September 10 from 7-8:30 pm at Color Me Mine, 438 Springfield Ave. Summit and Thursday, September 27 from 10-11:30 am at Twin Maples, 214 Springfield Ave. Summit..  Come learn new ways to use social media, hear the success stories of members, and share your own expertise.  Guest speakers will be Summit’s own members Kirsten Bischoff and Megan Brown, the co-founders of Hatchedit.com, the web site for coordinating family scheduling and event planning.

B.I.G. (Believe, Inspire, Grow) is a networking community of educated, intelligent, creative women.  It is an educational, support, and relationship building network for entrepreneurs and aspiring entrepreneurs.  Are you in transition?   Just been wondering, “What's next?”  Then B.I.G. is for you.  Admission to your first meeting is free.

Summit/New Providence Leader Melanie Wilson said, “We are different from the networking groups out there, because more than anything else, we start with support.  Our members often tell us that the wonderful thing about B.I.G. is that it is collaborative. Every B.I.G. meeting has an educational component to it as well and we plan our meetings around different business topics so that an entrepreneur does not necessarily feel that they have to know it all.  The speaker (many times sourced from the talented pool of women in the group) enables the women to leave the meeting with actionable steps to move their business or business idea forward.”

“We strive to empower women at all stages of their professional pursuits, from stay at home mothers looking to re-engage in the workforce, to seasoned entrepreneurs and career executives looking to make a change,” she said.  “We provide support and education and always embrace women’s desire to connect with each other.   Wherever you are in your life at this time, B.I.G. is a great vehicle to help you move forward.”

Founded in Bernardsville, NJ, in 2009, B.I.G. is a membership-based organization utilizing face-to-face community meetings in a non-competitive, supportive environment.  It helps women brainstorm new ideas, consider barter opportunities, make new business contacts, share success stories and frustrations, find new clients, and help each other move toward their goals.  The monthly meetings focus on various themes, such as The Art of Negotiation; Building your Brand; Demystifying Social Media, Make Networking Count, How to get Ink, and more.

The website www.believeinspiregrow.com was created to supplement the monthly meetings with an online business toolbox, educational support network, relevant business information, resume and job search help, discounts for members, and forums for business ideas.  The interactive website is also designed to showcase the businesses of B.I.G.’s members.

The Summit pod of B.I.G. joins local sister pods of Chatham/Madison, Montclair, Millburn, South Orange/Maplewood, Basking Ridge, Bernardsville, Livingston, Long Valley, Newton, West Orange and Westfield.  Members may attend meetings throughout the month at any pod location.
