“Holistic Living 101” - SAGE Eldercare

SAGE Eldercare is hosting “Holistic Living 101” Seminar. Join Kay Vallario, RN and National Certified Massage Therapist, on Thursday, March 29, 2012 from 10am - 11am at SAGE Eldercare in Summit to learn about one of SAGE’s newest programs, Holistic Living.  She will discuss the benefits of massage, especially for seniors and those with dementia.

This free seminar, which is open to the public, will end with a relaxation exercise for the attendees.  Last year, SAGE expanded its HomeCare offerings to include Holistic Living Services.  These services were developed as an additional support to help SAGE’s clients comfortably age in place, decrease feelings of isolation, and help achieve harmony of the mind and body.  These in-home services are ideal for those older adults who may be homebound, and/or frail who have limited social access.  Services are also offered onsite at SAGE Eldercare, 290 Broad Street, Summit.

“Holistic living therapy can make a big difference in a patient’s physical and mental well-being,” said Kay Vallario, RN, NCTMB, Holistic Living Coordinator of SAGE.  “On a very basic level, it fulfills the universal human need for touch.  It also decreases feelings of isolation and stress or agitation levels that can occur in older people.  On a physical level, it balances and aligns the human energy field, improves circulation, increases joint flexibility and range of motion, and decreases blood pressure,” she added.
