Let Justice Flow Like a River: Social Justice Issues, Ancient and Modern

Can ancient texts shed new light on social justice issues very different from those in biblical times? Join us for this fascinating interfaith study of how Christians and Jews through the centuries have interpreted Scripture to deal with new challenges.  The class will look at how rabbis and church fathers, and people of faith through today, wrestle for justice in women's rights, immigration, stewardship of the environment, sexual orientation, interfaith relations and caring for the poor. Participants will gain a deeper understanding of both faiths as well as new insights into contemporary issues.

Six Fridays:  Jan 21, 28 & Feb 4 at Congregation Beth Hatikvah;  Feb 11, 18, 25 at Christ Church, Short Hills.

The course is co-sponsored by Interweave, Christ Church, Short Hills, Congregation Beth Hatikvah and Summit Jewish Communuty Center.  Course leaders include Rabbi Avi Friedman (of Summit JCC), Rabbi Amy Small (of Beth Hatikvah), and Robert Corin Morris (Founder and Exec. Director of Interweave).
