Full Day, Tuition-Based Kindergarten Lottery Dates Announced

Primary center tours set for early December.

Those wishing to enter the lottery for a spot in the Summit School District's full day, tuition-based kindergarten pilot program for the 2014-2015 school year can mark their calendars for some important upcoming dates.

As per the resolution passed by the board on Oct. 17, two classes of 20 students each will be selected via a lottery system, with one class taught at the Wilson Primary Center and the other at Jefferson Primary. Both classes will take place in existing spaces. Tuition for the full-day program will be $5,500 per student for the year, with reduced tuition charged to those who qualify for free or reduced lunch.

A tour of Wilson Primary Center will take place at 8:45 a.m. Monday, Dec. 9, while a tour of Jefferson Primary will be held at 8:45 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 10.

Lottery applications for full day kindergarten will be available online and at all district schools on Friday, Dec. 13. The drawing will be held at the Board of Education offices on Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2014.
