Group Seeks Photographs, Memories for Washingtennial Celebration

Washington School is celebrating its 100th anniversary.

Summit's will mark 100 years of educating children in 2012-2013. To help the school celebrate hitting the century mark an organizing committee has been set up to create a keepsake of memories, stories and pictures.

"Parent volunteers are conducting research into the school's history in order to share it with the present students," said Patricia Fontan-Nociari, a parent on the historical research committee.

"The Washingtennial Committee is calling upon the community's collective memory to help to reconstruct the first 100 years of the school," she wrote in an email.

Current school parents are also encrouaged to participate by sharing stories and memories.  "We'd also welcome pictures of the school or the neighborhood," Fontan-Nociari said. "Become part of this very special celebration," she urged.
