Reporters Notebook
* Summit (7-0) has not lost a regular-season game since dropping a 32-28 decision to Gov. Livingston on Nov. 22, 2008. It has run its regular-season winning streak to 25-0. Summit, which lost to Orange, 37-34 in overtime, in the first round of the NJSIAA North Jersey, Section 2, Group 2 playoffs last year, appears as strong as it did when it won that section in 2009.
Quarterback Ryan Bringewatt (20 carries, 155 yards) and running back A.J. Iarussi (18 carries, 183 yards, 3 TDs) steered Summit to a 35-20 victory over New Providence last Saturday that reaped some serious power points. New Providence came into the contest at 5-0. Summit travels Saturday to Cranford, a Group 3 school off to a 7-0 start. A victory and the subsequent power points boost could give Summit the top seed in the section.
Conversely, a Cranford victory could set up that team for two home games in the playoffs. The teams have played five common opponents. Summit, which averages 44.7 points a game, has outscored those opponents, 247-62. Cranford holds a 140-44 edge over the same teams.
