Oak Knoll Reaches Out and Lends a Hand on Service Day

The Oak Knoll Upper School celebrates its annual Service Day by volunteering around North Jersey, including several spots in downtown Summit.

Instead of math class and note taking, the girls at Oak Knoll took their lessons outside on Thursday and lent a helping hand on the annual Upper School Service Day.

The event, which has taken place since 2001, involves the entire upper school, grades 7 to 12, in volunteer work for the day.  Some girls traveled into Newark and Hillside to volunteer while others stayed locally in Summit, helping out at Meals on Wheels, Bridges Outreach and other local sites.

Patch followed the girls to Bridges Outreach and Reeves Reed Arboretum to catch them in action.
