Officials Will Meet Tonight To Vote on Funding For School Upgrades

The Board of School Estimate will meet at 7:30 p.m. tonight in Council Chambers.

School officials are expected to vote tonight on bond requests that could fund several imporvement projects at local schools, including Jefferson school, where parents have recently voiced concerns regarding the need for upgrades.

At tonight's special Board of School Estimate meeting, which is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. in city hall, officials will decide to approve or deny funding for various projects, including Jefferson’s upgrades.

The proposed improvements are part of a $5 million plan to build a two-story expansion at Jefferson, one that would address nearly all of the internal issues in the building that have prompted local parents or start a petition on Change.org. Parents say issues with the aging facility were first raised with the district more than a decade ago.
