Parker Urges Residents to Action

Superintendent Dr. Nathan Parker says the real factors effecting education are at the state level.

Superintendent Dr. Nathan Parker urged the small yet attentive crowd at Thursday's Board of Education workshop meeting to take action at the state level, because the decisions being decided there will have the greatest impact on local districts, he said.

"It's critically important that people get involved," he said. "The real issue in New Jersey from my perspective is saving what you have, which is the public school system."

"I would urge, it's a small crowd tonight, but I urge you to get involved, councils, board PTOs and PTAs, to get involved politically."

Parker said legislation is being considered in Trenton supports vouchers for private schools and some of Gov. Chris Christie's biggest supported are Summit's legislators.
