Naval Academy Midshipman to Visit Middle School

Students and parents/guardians with questions about applying to a service academy are encouraged to attend.

The following was submitted by Summit Councilman Patrick Hurley:

I would like to take this opportunity to invite students and parents/guardians to come listen to a presentation by Naval Academy Midshipman First Class Carey Fries, Summit High Class of 2010, facilitated by Summit Councilman Patrick Hurley, United States Naval Academy Class of 1987.

America's Service Academies are some of the most selective universities in the nation. More so than any other institutions, gaining acceptance requires a candidate to be well rounded. They must be top students, athletes, team players and, most importantly, leaders.  Any student considering possibly applying to a service academy must start working for it from day one of freshman year in high school. Middle school is not too early to begin preparing. There will be an opportunity for parents and/or students to ask questions about preparing for a future in the service.
