Students Create Video for Autism Awareness

Second-graders completed the project as part of their Citizen of the Month program.

As part of their Citizen of the Month program, second graders in Mr. Gannon's class at Brayton paired up with Mrs. Cassidy's fifth grade class to work together on a project focusing on autism awareness. The students worked in mixed-grade groups to create a video highlighting facts as well as how students can be good friends to individuals who are autistic.

The students gathered on Monday, in the cafeteria, to share the finished project with Principal Dr. Cheryl Moretz and speak about the process. The second graders were appreciative that the fifth graders helped them complete the tasks and the older students enjoyed getting to spend time with younger ones and in some cases, even their siblings.

The video is posted on the Elementary Connections website for Summit teachers to view and share with their students.
