Summit High Principal Tells Fans to Avoid Alcohol, Drugs for Big Game

A message to parents urges students to follow school rules for football game at Kean University.

An email from Paul Sears was sent to Summit High School parents last night urging them to remind students to avoid achohol during the state football finals game tomorrow night against Madison. The email called for good behavior and avoidance of drugs. " I am counting on parents to partner with us to be sure that students are not drinking before the game," Sears said in the letter. He warned students that a violation of school rules and any misconduct at Kean University during the game could result in losing the ability to attend school functions such as the prom.

I encourage all students and parents to attend to support our team. I remind parents that this is a school event and all school rules will be enforced. I expect all fans to represent the school community well and to show great sportsmanship.

The administration and teaching staff will work with Kean security to make sure that all students and fans are safe.

Students who choose not to follow the code of conduct or substance abuse policy will face loss of privileges and the ability to attend school events such as the Semi-formal and prom.

I am counting on parents to partner with us to be sure that students are not drinking before the game.  I hope that your family will join us to have fun, and to cheer the team on to victory.
