After a close first half, the Summit Hilltoppers came out firing on all cylinders in the second half to shut down Palisades Park in the NJSIAA North Jersey, Section 2, Group 3 Championship Game at MetLife Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
For the Hilltoppers, it is their seventh state playoff title.
"In the locker room at halftime, some of the seniors stood up and talked to the team," said A.J. Iarussi. "Coach told us to play Hilltopper football and once we got rolling, there was nothing they could do to stop us."
The win capped off an undefeated season for Summit.
"This is the greatest feeling in the world," said senior quarterback Mike Badgley.
Badgley attributed the close first half to "pregame jitters because of MetLife Stadium."
Head Coach John Liberato said the team was on a mission all year. They played their two best games in December to bring home the championship.
