Veteran Union County Teacher Named Kent Place Director of Studies

Julia Gentile, a three-time "Teacher of the Year" winner assumes her post in July.

has named Julia Gentile, English Department Chair since 2007, as the Director of Studies at the school. Gentile,  who assumes the post on July 1, 2012 has also served as an Upper School English teacher who now will oversee the evaluation of instructional programs, curricular development and innovation in all subject areas and grade levels. She will also work on professional development for faculty and staff and with department chairs in setting curricular goals.

Prior to coming to Kent Place, Gentile worked extensively at the secondary school level at such institutions as Governor Livingston High School, Arlington Central School District, Brown University Summer High School and NJ SEEDS Summer Program, among others. She graduated cum laude with a BA in English and Spanish from the College of Holy Cross and received an MAT from Brown University.


Gentile's teaching career spans 16 years and among her numerous accolades and awards she has been nominated as “Teacher of the Year” by three separate entities — Kent Place School, the Berkley Heights Public School District to Union County and Princeton's Teacher of the Year program. In addition, her vast knowledge of curriculum development and instruction pervade her professional experiences. Gentile also served as a board member for Saint Theresa's Preschool in Summit, NJ for five years.

Gentile resides in Madison with her husband, Paul Morgan and their family. “Julia's expertise and professional experiences will add greatly to the Kent Place School community in this new capacity,” said Head of School, Susan C. Bosland.
