5 Hilltoppers Qualify For Track Meet of Champions
Mark Jones takes the Group II championship titles in high jump and long jump.
Based on their performances at the Group II championship June 3 and 4, five members of the Track and Field team have qualified for the final NJ track meet of the outdoor season, the Meet of Champions. Mark Jones, took the Group 2 championship titles in the high jump with a 6 ft, 10 inch-jump and the long jump, leaping 23 3 1/2 inches. He also qualified in the 110 meter hurdles.
Teammate Thomas Chin qualified in the 1,600 meters running 4.24:89 in his event at Groups. Katie Watson placed second in both the 1,600 meters and 800 meters, qualifying her to the meet of champions competition in both events. Her distance running teammate Isabella Yozzi will join her in the 800 meter event. Aleixa Diaz qualified for both the 100 and 400 meter hurdles.
The meet of champions will take place on Thursday, June 9 at Old Bridge High School beginning at 3:30 p.m.
