Boys Track Team Takes Team Title at Dodgertown Relays

Girls squad takes third place.

The Summit girls track team took third place and the boys took the team title for their third in the last five years Saturday at the Madison Dodgertown Relays on Saturday.
 
The girls started off the day with a gold medal in the Shuttle Hurdles Relay with the team of Daria Chadwick, Aleixa Diaz, Kelly Diaz and Lauren Ng. Alexia Diaz, Kelly Diaz and Ng later teamed up with Keri Enriquez to take the bronze in the 4x200 relay. Ng and Chadwick came back later to take gold in the High Jump as well.  Aleixa finished her dayoff with another gold medal and a meet record in the 4x400 Relay with teammates Katie Watson, Kirsty Gargiulo and Rebecca Cummings.  Watson, Cummings and Gargiulo had teamed up earlier in the day with Gillian McClroy to earn a silverin the Distance Medley Relay. 
 
The boys won the team title in the last eventbut they won the meet with a dominant performance on the track and in the jumps. Mark Jones, Matt Espy, Kyle Fitts and Tim Schlenger won the Shuttle Hurdles in meet record time to kick off the day.  Jones then earned his second gold and second meet record in the 4x200 relay with Espy, Schlenger and teammate Justin Cyrus. Jones continued his day with another gold in the High Jump with Schlenger and closed out his day with a silver in the Long Jump with teammate Kyle Fitts. Fitts earned another silver with Espy later on in the day in the Triple Jump.  It was the 4x400 made up of distance runners and not the typical sprinting core that closed it out for Summit. Thomas Chin, Jesse Taylor, Andrew Mandelbaum and Ryan Schreck took fourth and were the difference in taking the title in the last event over Livingston.
