Summit Football Takes on Rival Cranford Friday Night
The Cougars will visit the undefeated Summit Hilltoppers at 7 p.m.
The Summit Varsity Football team takes on rival Cranford on Friday night at 7 p.m. at Investors Bank Field at Tatlock Park.
The Cougars lost in their first season game against Watchung Hills, 7-22, but last week, the team took on Somerville where they were victorious, 20-14.
The Cougars held a 20-7 lead at halftime, after Donovoan Walker scored the first touchdown for the team in the first quarter. In the second quarter, Luke Christiano broke a 42-yard run for a touchdown and caught a 38-yard touchdown pass from John Oblachinski, according to NJ.com.
Last week, Summit had an extraordinary game against Johnson, according to NJ.com. Senior Colm Doughtery had 15 tackles, four rushing touchdowns and an interception return for score. The Hilltoppers have won 14 games straight as they head into Friday night’s game.
Though the game begins at 7 p.m., a tailgate party kicks off at 5 p.m. Music and refreshments lend a festive start to Hilltopper Weekend. There is a special Friday Night Lights T-shirt for sale through the Summit Booster Association. All fans wearing the “LIGHT IT UP” T-shirt will get into the game for free.
