LIFEGUARDING 15+yrs $315 includes Connection membership/$250 Member

Teaches participants the knowledge and skills needed to prevent and respond to aquatic emergencies. The course content and activities prepare participants to rec­ognize and respond quickly and effectively to emergencies and prevent drowning and injuries.

Prerequisites:  Participants must be 15 by completion of the course. Swim 300 yards continuously using front crawl and breaststroke only starting in the water, swim 20 yards using front crawl or breaststroke, surface dive 7–10 feet, retrieve a 10-pound object, return to the surface, swim 20 yards back to the start­ing point with the object and exit the water without using a ladder or steps, within 1 minute, 40 seconds.

Certification: Lifeguard/First Aid valid for 3 years, CPR/AED for Lifeguards valid for

1 year

LIFEGUARD/CPR RECERTIFICATION $120/$60

WATER SAFETY INSTRUCTOR 16+yrs $365 includes Connection membership/$300 Member

Students will be certified to teach a variety of classes for infants through adults. The class also includes the American Red Cross Fundamentals of Instructor (FIT) Training course.

Prerequisites: Participants must be 16 by completion of the course. Demonstrate the ability to perform the following swimming skills: 25 yards each of Front Crawl, Back Crawl, Breast Stroke, Elementary Backstroke, and Side Stroke, 15 yards of Butterfly, and Maintain position on back in deep water and treading water for 1 minute each.

Certification: Water Safety Instructor

After successful completion of the WSI course you must make an appointment at your local red cross to become authorized. Once you are authorized you must teach at least one class per year and send your local Red cross the proper paper paperwork.

Certification Requirement for all classes: Attend all class sessions, demonstrate competency in all required skills and activities, successfully complete three final skill scenarios, and score an 80 percent or higher on the final written exam
