Girls Basketball Scores Impressive Win Over Hillside
Hilltoppers victory puts them in first round of Union County Tournament on Monday.
The Game: Good shooting and aggressive team defense by the Summit girls basketball team led to an impressive win over Hillside High School 68-43 in the opening round of the Union County Tournament in Rahway on Saturday. Summit jumped out to a lead in the first quarter and led 33-17 at half-time. They pushed the ball up the court, drove to the basket often, and played unselfish team basketball against a very athletic Hillside team.
The Players: Kate Martino had an exceptional game leading her team with 22 points while Nicole Johnson scored 17 and Kelly Osmulski added 13 points in the victory.
Post Game Reaction: "We clicked on all facets of our game today," said head coach Brian Erickson. "Our guards pushed the action and our frontline players did a great job battling under the boards. It's been a long season and it was great to see us come out fast today and get the win."
