Girls Lacrosse Defeats Madison

The Summit girls' lacrosse team pulled out a narrow victory at Monday's home game, resulting in a 6-5 win against the Madison Dodgers.

The Hilltoppers got off to an early lead, scoring four goals in the first half and playing tough defense, letting up only one goal.

In the second half, the Dodgers fought back, scoring three goals in the first 10 minutes. The Hilltoppers responded with a quick goal, resulting in a 5-4 spread. When the Dodgers evened up the score at 5-5 with 8 minutes left in the game, Summit's Kelly Osmulski retaliated with the tie-breaking goal, assisted by Megan Paytas, with 2 minutes, 35 seconds left in the game.

In the final minutes of the game, Summit played a game of keep-away, stalling for time while the Dodgers struggled to gain possession.  In the end, the Hilltoppers' defense prevailed, preventing the Dodgers from getting into scoring position.

Megan Paytas played a strong game, scoring two goals and assisting Kelly Osmulski in the tie-breaking goal. Kendall Speno scored one goal and had one assist and Kate Martino and Clare O'Malley scored one goal each.

NEXT

 The Hilltoppers face off with Union Catholic on today. The game is set to start at 4 p.m. at Summit High School.

This weekend, Summit will remain at home and take on Governor Livingston at 11 a.m.
