Girls on the Run's Summit 2 group opened its season Saturday morning. Coach Jen Hinger said 14 girls are participating and registration is still open. The group meets at Briant Park.
Another Summit GOTR, starting next week, has 44 girls ready to train and meets at Memorial Field.
Program director of Girls on the Run NJ East, Anne Klein said, "We inspire girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum which creatively integrates running."

The dynamic 10-week program combines training for a 5k (3.1 mile) running race with education and interactive discussions about critical issues that will affect pre-teen girls as they reach adolescence. Trained volunteer coaches teach life lessons to girls through fun and clever running games and workouts, the site explained.
