Girls Track Takes Second at Sectional Championship

Boys team places fourth.

The girls track tram placed second at the Group 2 Sectional championship Saturday, narrowly missing the team title to Bernards.

Aleixa Diaz was the big contributor for the team winning golds in the 110 and 400 meter hurdles and earning points in the 200 and 400 meter runs. Katie Watson placed first in the 800 meter race and team mate Isabella Yozzi placed third with a breakout time of 2:18.98. In a very competitive 1,600 meter run, both Watson (5:00.48) and Yozzi (5:03.76) raced exceptionally well surpassing the previous Meet record time of 5:06.65 to place second and fourth.

The 4 x 400 relay team of Katie Watson, Rebecca Cummings, Isabella Yozzi and Kirsty Gargiulo won the silver, racing neck-and-neck against fierce competition.  Daria Chadwick added to the Hilltoppers' excellent championship showing by placing second in the 100 meter hurdles and scoring points in the 100 and 200 meter races. Additional point scorers included Lauren Ng (100 meters) and Gillian McIlroy (3,200 meters).
