Softball Sails Past Jonathan Dayton

Hilltoppers take on Oak Knoll today at 4 p.m.

The softball team played their best game of the season Saturday defeating Jonathan Dayton 7-2 at Memorial Field, Summit.

Trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the third inning, Summit had runners on first and second with one out.  Ready to make something happen, head coach Lorie Zuchowski put on the double steal. Both runners slid in safe on a dropped ball on the tag by the third baseman.  That play turned out to be a catalyst for a four run inning in which Summit never looked back.

Sophomore Ali Hoesly went 4-4 with a double, 2 RBI's and 2 runs scored to lead all hitters for Summit. She made several clutch defensive plays that kept Dayton's hitters off the bases as well. Sophomore Jackie Zalis also had a great offensive game going 3-4 scoring 1 run and 1 RBI.  Junior Liz Cassin also helped the offense going 2-4 and scoring 1 run.
