Summies Score at St. Patrick's Day Invitational

Forty-four Summies gymnasts attended the event on March 11th.

The Summit Summies Gymnastics Team from The Connection for Women & Families sent 44 gymnasts to the St. Patrick's Day Invitational at ENA Gymnastics in Pompton Plains, New Jersey on Sunday March 11th.  The team continues to improve and all Summies are now qualified to attend the State and Regional Championship to be held in May in Wildwood, New Jersey.

In the 6-8 year old age group, Catherine Singow finished 2nd overall with a 36.55.  She also won the vault (9.4) and floor (9.65).  Emily Weisman finished 4th with a 35.0.  She won 6th place on floor (9.3) and 4th on beam with a 8.6.  Sophie Wisniewski finished 8th in the all-around with a 33.8.  She won 3rd place on bars (8.5).

In the 9 year old age group, Kasey Walsh was the meet champion with a 36.4.  She won beam (9.3) and finished 2nd on both bars (8.8) and floor (9.3).  Margaret Griffith finished 2nd overall with a 35.9.  She won floor (9.4) and finished 2nd on beam (9.15).  Emma Claus finished 3rd overall with a 35.3.  She won vault (9.2) and finished 3rd on beam (9.1).  Isabel Claus finished 4th overall with a 34.95.  She won 3rd place on both vault (8.8) and bars (8.8).  Charlotte Girouard finished 5th overall with a 34.9.  She won 3rd place on floor (9.2) and 4th place on vault (8.8).  Katya Wardle finished 6th overall with a 34.25.  She won 5th place on bars (8.6) and 6th on vault (8.75).  Sophia Schachne finished 7th overall with a 34.2.  She won 6th place on both bars (8.6) and floor (8.6).  Hope Pierotti finished 8th overall with a 34.1.  She won bars (8.9) and finished 4th on beam (8.85).  Dana Efron finished 10th overall with a 32.85.  She won 5th place on floor (8.65) and 8th place on bars (8.3).  Sofia Wilson finished 12th overall with a 31.6.  Her best events were beam (8.3) and bars (8.1).  Ellie Griffith finished 15th overall with a 30.8.  She won 9th place on both beam (8.4) and floor (8.3).

 

In the 10 and over age group, Julie Phipps led the Summies finishing 5th overall with a 35.8.  She won 3rd on floor (9.35) and 4th on beam (9.05).  Murphy Degen finished 6th overall with a 35.65.  She finished 2nd on vault (9.25) and 6th on beam (9.0).  Anna Forrest finished 7th overall with a 35.5.  She won the vault (9.3) and finished 6th on floor (9.2).  Ruby Hodges finished 8th overall with a 35.5.  She won 4th place on vault (9.2) and 4th on floor (9.3).  Hailey Bernstein finished 11th overall with a 32.9.  Her best events were floor (8.7) and beam (8.4).

 

Bronze Team Finished Third

 

In the 10 year old age-group, the Summies Bronze team was led by Sofia Confalonieri who finished 4th overall with a 35.1.  She finished 3rd on vault (8.4) and floor (9.5).  Julia Ippolito finished 7th overall with a 34.3.  She won 4th place on floor with a career best 9.4.  Essie Pasternak finished 10th overall with a 32.6.  She won 5th place on vault (8.4).  Allison Lee competed as an event specialist.  Her best event was floor where she earned a season high 8.7.

 

In the 11 year old age-group, the Summies were led by Devon Degen who finished 6th overall with a 35.0.  She won 6th place on vault (8.3) and bars (8.5).  Grace Bauman finished 5th overall with a 34.25.  She won bars (9.3) and finished 2nd on floor (9.25). 

 

In the 9 year old age-group, Isabella Leonard finished 8th overall with a 34.1.  She won 2nd on floor (9.1) and 6th on bars (8.7).  Team mate Jane Wagner competed as an event specialist.  Her best event was floor where she earned an 8.5. 

 

Silver Team Puts Up Season-High Scores

 

The Summies Silver team was led by 13 year old Kiera Little who finished 4th overall with a 36.0.  She won 3rd on vault (9.25) and 4th on bars (9.0).  Emily Donohue finished 5th overall with a 35.85.  She won bars (9.35).  K. Stewart finished 7th overall with a season-high 35.4.  She won 5th on beam (8.7) and floor (9.3).  N. Schachter finished 9th overall with a 33.7.  She won 6th place on bars (8.9). 

 

In the 11-12 year old age-group, Margaret Robb led the Summies finishing 8th overall with a 35.75.  She finished 5th on bars (9.1) and beam (9.15).  Ginny Collins finished 9th overall with a 35.75.  She won 9th on beam (9.05) and 7th on floor (9.1).  Claire Murdock finished 10th overall with a 35.5.  She won 2nd on floor (9.35).  Cassie Ippolito finished 12th overall with a 35.25.  She won 7th on bars (9.0) and 9th on floor (9.05).  Anna Bowyer finished 14th overall with a 34.3.  Her best event was floor (9.0).  Anna Griffith finished 15th overall with a 33.2.  Her best event was floor (9.0).

 

In the 9-10 year old age-group, Emily Vinick finished 7th overall with a 33.6.  Her best event was floor (9.0).  Team mate Caroline Griffith, competing in her first meet of the season after overcoming an injury, finished 8th overall with a 33.6.  Her best event was floor (8.9).  

 

Gold Team Puts Up Season High Scores

Summies' Abby Claus led the Gold team winning 4th place overall in the 11&over age group with a 34.2.  She won bars (8.9) and finished 4th on beam (8.3) and 5th on floor (9.0).  MaryKaylee Speck, competing at the Gold level for the first time, finished 5th overall with a 33.0.  She won 2nd on beam (8.7).  Noa Efron finished 6th overall with a 32.45.  She won 3rd place on beam with an 8.4.  Allison Horne finished 7th overall with a season-high 32.4.  She won 4th place on both vault (8.15) and floor (9.15).  Callie DePhillips finished 8th overall with a 32.05.  She won 2nd place on floor with a season-high 9.2.

The Summies are next in action at the Garden Gator Invitational at the end of March.

The Summit Summies Team is a member of the United States Association of Independent Gymnastics Clubs, Inc. and is part of the gymnastics program offered by The Connection for Women & Families.  The team consists of girls, ages 7 through 17 years who practice 2 to 5 days a week in the Connection's state-of-the-art facility.  Anyone interested in instructional, competitive gymnastics or summer gymnastics camp should call 908-273-4242 and ask for Tracy Burkholder, Director of Gymnastics.
