Summit 12U Softball Beats Westfield for League Crown

Strong pitching and hitting leads girls to 15-5 win.

The Summit girls 12U softball team defeated Westfield 15-5 to win the summer fast-pitch softball league championship at Memorial Field Wednesday night.

The Summit squad was led by Callyn Cass who belted the only home run of the game and catcher Emani Miles who displayed her offensive power by driving in several runs. However, the entire team contributed to the win with timely hitting, defense and pitching.

The score of the game was close early on but Summit led 8-4. Summit's potent line-up exploded for seven more runs in the later innings to put the game out of reach for visiting Westfield.
