Four Summit football players have been selected to participate in the 2013 Snapple Bowl game, which takes place 7 p.m. on Thursday at Kean University.

Each year, football and cheerleading coaches from around Union and Middlesex counties nominate members of their teams to participate in the Snapple Bowl and the other coaches vote on who will participate.

This is the 20th anniversary of the Snapple Bowl, a football game that raises funds for NJ Institute for Disabilities and Children’s Specialized Hospital. Members of the Middlesex and Union County teams students will spend time visiting both locations.

Middlesex has won six out of the last seven games but the two sides have split the victories over the last two years. Union won a 28-6 battle in 2011 and Middlesex came away with a 39-15 win in 2012.

This year’s football roster includes:
  • AJ Iarussi, FB
  • Nick Liberato, LB
  • Andrew Oristanio, DE
  • Nick Watts, DB
There were no Summit High School cheerleaders chosen to participate.

The game is set for 7 p.m. Thursday at Kean University. Tickets are $10 at the gate and all proceeds go to Children’s Specialized Hospital and the Lakeview School in Edison. The game has raised and donated more than $400,000 to date.
