Unbeaten Summit Football Rips Johnson

Team next faces Cranford on Hilltopper Weekend.

The Summit High School football team continued its roll. The Hilltoppers defeated AL Johnson High School in Clark Friday night, 48-23. 

The win follows last Sunday's victory over the Somerville High Pioneers, 29-7. 

"Our kids did a great job of executing our game plan," head coach Kevin Kostibos said. "Johnson is a very physical team and it took an entire program effort to be as successful as we were."

Andrew Masterfano scored a touchdown for Summit late in the third quarter on a 62-yard run.

Up next: the Hilltoppers take on the Cranford Cougars Friday night. The following information regarding Hilltopper Weekend has been provided by the Summit School District: 

The Summit Booster Association announces that Friday Night Lights and Hilltopper Weekend will be combined this year. The Summit Hilltoppers will take on Cranford High School on Friday, September 27th at Investors Bank Field at Tatlock Park. The football game kickoff is set for 7 p.m., but the fun will begin at 5 p.m. with a festive tailgate party. The Summit Music Parents Association and Towne Deli will be selling refreshments.

There is a special Friday Night Lights T-shirt for sale through the Summit Booster Association. All fans wearing the “LIGHT IT UP” T-shirt will get into the game for free.

The weekend's activities will continue into Saturday, September 28th. Summit sports teams will be playing all over town, and a DJ will be playing at the Upper High School field from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Town Deli will be selling lunch, for all those hungry fans.
