Summit Lacrosse Player Named All-American

Stuart Humphrey recognized for standout season.

Stuart Humphrey, a senior standout on the Summit High School lacrosse team, was recently named an All-American for her performance this past season, according to U.S. Lacrosse.

Humphrey, an All-American in the Group II and III category, helped lead the Hilltoppers to an 18-5 record and the school's first NJSIAA Group II girls lacrosse championship.

In Summit's 13-12 overtime loss to Shawnee in the Tournament of Champions, Humphrey lead her team with four goals scored.

Hilltoppers coach Mike Walsh said the success of the team was built on the leadership of its seniors, especially Humphrey, a three-sport star who had willingly taken on the position of team captain.

"She's the heart and soul of our program," Walsh said following the Hilltoppers' final game of the season. "She's been a role model for the entire team."

Another Summit resident, Claire Cagnassola, a senior at Oak Knoll School, was also named a U.S. Lacrosse All-American.
