Summit Summies Kick Off Competition Season at Icicle Invitational

Copper and Bronze teams finished as Meet Champions, while the Silver and Gold Teams pulled out stellar performances.

The Summit Summies Gymnastics Team from The Connection for Women & Families sent 55 gymnasts to the Icicle Invitational at Northern Elite Gymnastics in Flanders, NJ on Saturday, Jan. 12 and Sunday, Jan. 13.

Copper And Bronze Teams Finish as Meet Champions

Copper and Bronze Teams finished as Meet Champions, each taking a 1st place Team Award.  Copper girls had six 1st place and four 2nd place wins across all events.  They finished with two 1st place, one 2nd place and two 3rd place wins in the all-around scores in their respective age groups. The Bronze girls took twelve 1st place, eight 2nd place and eleven 3rd place wins across all events.  They finished with two 1st place, three 2nd place and three 3rd place wins in the all-around scores in their respective age groups.

Silver and Gold Teams’ Outstanding Performance

Silver and Gold Teams didn’t hold back and achieved outstanding scores. The Silver girls had two 1st place wins and seven 2nd place wins across all events.   They took two 1st place wins and two 2nd place wins in the all-around scores in their respective age groups with all Summies Silver competitors placing within the top six spots.  The Gold girls won seven 1st place and two 2nd place wins across all events.  They took three 1st place wins in the all-around scores in their respective age groups with all Summies Gold competitors finishing within the top three spots.

The Summies' next meet will take place on Saturday, Jan. 26 at the Igloo Invitational at CS Gymnastics in Flanders, NJ.

The Summit Summies Team is a member of the United States Association of Independent Gymnastics Clubs, Inc. and is part of the gymnastics program offered by The Connection for Women & Families.  The team consists of girls, ages 7 through 17 years who practice 2 to 5 days a week in the Connection's state-of-the-art facility.  Anyone interested in instructional, competitive gymnastics or summer gymnastics camp should call 908-273-4242 and ask for Tracy Burkholder, Director of Gymnastics.
