Summit's Best Bar/Restaurants To Watch Sports

College football and the NFL are six weeks into their seasons. The Yankees are preparing for their American League Championship showdown Friday with the Los Angeles Angels.

The Devils, Rangers and Islanders have started on the ice. The Nets and Knicks are preparing for their regular-season openers.

Seton Hall and Rutgers hoop are gearing up for their madness.

And Summit Hilltopper athletics are in full swing.

So Summit Patch decided to visit five establishments within town and check out the latest specials and atmospheres for a good meal, some drinks and to watch the action. Feel free to submit your own reviews!

Here are the selections:

The Office Beer Bar & Grill:

TVs: 8

Bar: 21-seat bar, seven booths to the left of the bar, four four-seat tables to the right of the bar, eight tables in front of bar. Two computers to check your latest fantasy stats.

Specials: Happy Hour (4-7 p.m.) every day. Happy Hour all day on Monday Night Football with select $5  appetizers and $5.99 pitchers of Coors Light. $2 domestic drafts/$3 craft and import pints (14 beers on tap).

Review: Having lived in Summit for six years, I frequented quite often. Great atmosphere, always crowded to watch sports.

Beacon Hill Tavern & Restaurant:

TVs: 4

Bar: 12-seat bar, seven two-seat tables surrounding bar.

Specials: NFL Sunday/Monday ($1 off drafts, 2 hot dogs for $3, dozen wings for $3).

Review: Horseshoe-type bar in back of restaurant with side entrance. Small place but great to watch a game, catch up on conversation, Summit's neighborhood bar.

Marco Polo Restaurant & Tavern:

TVs: 5

Bar: 26-seat rectangle bar adjacent to the first floor of the restaurant.

Specials: Happy Hour Monday-Friday (3-6 p.m.) with $2 drafts and free pizza or appetizer from the kitchen. Late Night Munchies: 5 fun items for $5 each (Monday-Saturday at bar (9:30-11 p.m.).

Review: Since 1934, Marco Polo has served great Italian food. I have been to many a family function here. Good bar to hang and converse, TVs are close to the bar, free mixed nuts at the bar.

Winberie's Restaurant & Bar:

TVs: 3

Bar: Small half-circle bar with some tables to the right as you walk in to the restaurant. There is space at the bar and booths in bar area for larger groups.

Specials: Happy Hour Monday-Friday (4-7 p.m.) includes $1 off beer, $2 off all liquor/wine, assorted drink specials and 1/2 price off Bar Bites menu.

Review: Small, great for a party of 2-to-4 people to hang and watch game. However, Winberies can also so cocktail parties for up to 30 people to watch the game.  During these parties they offer a $10 all you can eat buffet including nachos, pull pork, hot dogs, chili, etc.

The Hunt Club Steak and Seafood Grill:

TVs: 2

Bar: 15-seat bar located in the back of The Grand Summit Hotel and to the right of the restaurant.

Specials: None listed, but 13 bottled beers and six drafts to choose from.

Review: Geared toward hotel guests and the dinner crowd, upscale.
