Thousands Attend Summit's 'Hot Summer Nights Concert Series'

Summit's concert series on the Village Green featured four popular bands on Tuesday evenings in July.

Summit’s “Hot Summer Nights Concert Series” ended with a bang Tuesday night with “Total Soul,” a Motown/R&B band, on the Village Green.

Sponsored by Summit’s Department of Community Programs, this year’s concert series also included performances by Parrotbeach, which benefitted the Sandy Ground Project, the Bronx Wanderers and The B Street Band.

“I think that this was our best year ever,” says Judith Josephs, Director of Community Programs in Summit. “In spite of the crazy summer weather, we got all the concerts in as scheduled and the crowds were terrific. We had a great time and the crowds loved that we brought back the four top rated concerts of the past.”

Josephs said each concert attracted between 800 and 1,500 people.

“The Total Soul Concert was the best attended ever,” Josephs told Patch. “We are growing with each concert and each year. Those that participated loved the series and are looking forward to next year.”

Josephs said next summer’s concert series will include more of the same.

“We have the right combination of entertainment and community rolled into one,” Josephs said. “The Community Night event is a great night for Summit and we will continue that effort for sure. We hope that Investors Bank will once again be our Presenting Sponsor. Nobody does it better than Investors. They are totally ‘invested” in the Hot Summer Nights Concert Series. We couldn’t have done it without them. We also hope that Overlook Medical Center will be a part of next year’s series. This year they participated in our effort to support the Sandy Ground Project.”
