A New Standard in Player Safety

Summit Youth Football players recently completed a two-day Heads Up Tackling Clinic this past Monday as part of the USA Football's step-by-step protocol to teach proper tackling mechanics and ultimately set a new standard in player safety.

The clinic was held on Monday, April 14th and Monday, April 28th at Summit Senior High School.  Players were instructed on safety methods through a step-by-step protocol.  The Heads Up Tackling program utilizes five fundamentals through a series of drills to reinforce proper tackling mechanics as well as teach players how to properly tackle with a focus on reducing helmet contacts.

The clinic was coached by USA Football certified youth football coaches from Summit’s youth football program and former college football players.  For more information on the Youth Heads Up Tackling Clinic, please contact the Summit Department of Community Programs at 908-277-2932.
