Help the First Aid Squad Celebrate 50 years

All are invited to our Block Party on Saturday, July 28.

Tomorrow, July 28, 2012 marks 50 years of service for the and to celebrate that milestone, the members have invited the entire town to a on Summit Ave. between Morris Ave & Oakland Place.  Stop by between 11 AM and 4 PM.

This is a great opportunity to meet your neighbors who comprise the First Aid Squad, learn about how they train and the equipment and procedures they use to help you during an emergency.  You can also pick up some health & safety tips for you and your family.

The Squads building and all equipment will be on display; including 4 ambulances, a first response/command truck, special operations trailer and bike team.  Several other agencies will also have displays to show the public some of the other emergency resources that Summit can call upon when needed, including several specialty response units such as a medical ambulance bus, mass casualty response unit, off road rescue vehicles, a medical helicopter team, police Segways and a mounted Police team.

There will be fun activities for kids as well as educational activities such as the Fire Dept. fire safety & smoke house trailer and Overlook Healthy Avenues bus.

Displays will also include antique emergency vehicles inluding the 1927 Summit Chemical Engine, several ambulances and antique police cars.

If weather permits, a flyover of 2 med-evac helicopters is planned for the afternoon.

Food from several local restaurants will be available and a DJ will provide music.

NOTE: The Summit Ave. Extension between Morris Ave. & Oakland Pl. will be closed to traffic during the event. Parking will be available at the New Jersey Center for Visual Arts on Elm St. and on the south side of Oakland Pl. (across from the Middle School)
